Grade 7 creates Spirit Animals

7th Graders examined the unique designs styles of the Native tribes from the Pacific Northwest region of North America.  They chose an animal, redesigned in the PNW style, and then used the slab method of clay building to make 3D masks.  They thought about what animal might represent them and integrated the smooth but sturdy coastal designs of the region. Some noted how the Northwest coast was similar to our Downeast coastline. Students chose to limit their color palette to only 5 choices when it came time to glaze.
