Student Work at the Portland Museum

Youth Art Month
March 1, 2013 – March 31, 2013

March is National Youth Art Month, and the Portland Museum of Art and the Maine Art Education Association are pleased to collaborate on this special presentation of student artwork from across the state of Maine. Sharing this work by K-12 students allows the museum to recognize the value of art education for all children and to encourage public support for quality school art programs.

The value of art education has been well researched and documented. It provides students with important critical-thinking and problem solving skills as well as fostering self-esteem, self-discipline, and an appreciation for the work of others. The Youth Art Month exhibition celebrates and validates student achievement in the visual arts, and the PMA is proud to honor the talent and dedication of these young artists and their teachers.

Our very own Garret Aube, of seventh grade fame, is featured among the other great student artists on display NOW at the PMA. Go see his work and help support the arts in our Maine Schools.
