Welcome back, Art fans!
As we get rolling with another great year of art things are off to a great start. 5th graders are exploring the ups and downs of our world and the challenges of portraying deep spaces in art (both with sculpture and drawing) while 7th graders learn about ancient native cultures through the transformative power of masks.
Meanwhile eighth graders have just wrapped up a very in depth and intense study of a group of object for a class artist’s challenge: the still life drawing. Students looked at over 20 unique objects in a group and had to use different drawing techniques including stippling, hatching, cross hatching and smudging to capture the varied textures and dramatic lighting in the image. The results are some very subtle and beautiful renderings.
