Seventh grade draws animal portraits

As an drawing study for an upcoming painting lesson, 7th grade students in Mr. Adams’ class spent several classes carefully observing photos of animals.  They concentrated first on the basic shapes that built the animal forms, then narrowed their drawing focus to observation of textures and values. Students worked carefully to use different and appropriate marks to build up those textures and create dark and light areas. The results are some beautifully subtle drawings that show off not just student work but the unique personalities of the subjects.
