Seventh graders bring color to mud season hallways

7th graders examined the work of Maine artist/illustrator Dahlov Ipcar.  After choosing an animal the students simplified the shapes then divided the piece in a kaleidoscope style to add abstraction.  Like Ipcar, whose work emphasizes shape, pattern and the use of vivid color, the students separated their animal from its environment using warm and cool colors in their paintings.
