New Project for 8th grade

Mr. Adams tried out a brand new lesson for this year’s final 8th grade art group and the results are spectacular.

Eighth grade students dove into the deep waters of art history for this research/hands-on lesson.  They had to search through art books and explore the internet, using Google Art Project, to find a favorite example of a fine art piece that exhibits string use of space.  They then had to determine how the piece could be broken down into fore, middle, and back grounds.  Each of these layers was created separately and then the final piece was built with small foam spacers to create an actual three dimensionality beyond just the illusion on a flat image created by the original artists.

The results of this challenging project are fresh takes on the works of Homer, Munch, Cassatt and more.
