Bold People, Bold Color

7th graders have just finished their latest piece: a Van Gogh inspired self portrait painting. Students focused on contrasting colors (red/green, yellow/purple, etc. ) and bold visible brush strokes, just like the great Impressionist.  We also made sure to study facial proportions and looked in mirrors to find the lightest highlights and darkest shadows in the face. No ears were harmed during the making of this project.
